Registered Agent In Missouri
Before you file the Articles of Organization for your LLC with the state of Missouri, you will need to choose a Registered Agent.
A Registered Agent is either a company or person who agrees to receive legal mail for your LLC in the event that your business is sued.
In a majority of states, the Registered Agent serves as the general contact as well as to receive documents such as payment reminders, tax notices, and business notices.
The Registered Agent is required to have a physical addressed located in Missouri (a PO box is not allowed).
The Registered Agent is also required to be available during regular business hours (9 am to 5 pm) in the event that a Service Process comes. Included in Service of Process are the delivery of documents including subpoenas summons, and/or complaints.
Registered Agents in Missouri cannot use any mailbox service such as a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) or Personal Mailbox (PMB).
According to the rules from the Secretary of State, your Registered Agent in Missouri are required to have a physical street address in the state of Missouri.
Once again, a PO Box cannot be used as their address.
The address of the Registered Agent also cannot be a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) or a Private Mailbox (PMB).

Who Can Be A Registered Agent In The State Of Missouri?
There are 3 options when you are forming an LLC in the state of Missouri:
Option 1: You can be the Registered Agent for your LLC
Option 2: A family member or friend can be the Registered Agent of your LLC
Option 3: A Commercial Registered Agent can be hired
Important Note: If an individual is going to be your Registered Agent (you, a family member, or a friend), that person must be a Missouri resident.
How Do I Know Which Option to Select?
You can serve as the Registered Agent for your LLC if you have a Missouri physical address (an office or home), and are available during normal business hours.
If you do not have a Missouri physical address, you can use a family member or friend’s address. They will have to agree to be the Registered Agent for your LLC, have a Missouri physical address, and be available during regular business hours.
You can also hire a Commercial Registered Agent if you do not have a Missouri physical address and do not have a family member or friends address that can be used.
In most states, a degree of privacy is provided when you use a Commercial Registered Agent and usually offers a more reliable setup as well.
